Chris Roberts Antieau

Chris is about the single most successful artist I’ve ever known. Sheís shown in over a hundred galleries nationally and too many museums to mention. Oprah and Lyle Lovett and Gillian Welch and a whole host of other Notables collect her. She’s in the Boxing Hall of Fame with a tribute piece she did of Sugar Ray Robinson and she’s hanging in the White House with a portrait of George Washington. Her resume just goes on and on that way forever.

Her work is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I know it’s hard to tell, but all these pictures are sewn pieces of fabric! She takes different swatches of fabric, which she collects from strange little shops all over the country, and sews them together to make these incredible pictures. I’ve never heard of anyone using fabric like she does. It’s amazing.

Process:
Everything you see is sewn, it’s all fabric, the process is known as applique. In addition, all the frames are designed and hand painted by Chris.
